Frequently asked questions

I’m ready to learn more. What’s the next step?

If you’d like to discuss us working together, or have questions, please fill out the “request for consultation” form here.

What happens after the phone consultation?

If we decide to move forward with treatment, we will set up our first appointment at the end of our phone consultation. I will email you a secure link to complete a few intake forms prior to our first session. Once those are complete, I will email you a link to our first teletherapy appointment.

What can I expect from the first appointment?

During the first appointment, I’ll ask more questions to get to know you and your situation better. You may also ask me questions about how I work and let me know in more detail what you’re looking for from the therapy experience. I will share my initial impressions and how I think I can be of help; if I determine that another therapist or specialist might be a better fit based on your needs, I will let you know and provide you with referrals. Please plan for this appointment to last 60 minutes. Subsequent sessions will be 50-55 minutes.

Are you offering in-person therapy?

At this time, I am only seeing patients via teletherapy.

Are you seeing children via teletherapy?

I only have openings for adults at this time.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes, twenty-four hours notice is required for cancellations, or the session will be billed at the full rate.

How does payment work?

I am in-network with Aetna of Maryland and Massachusetts. Otherwise, I am out of network and bill you directly following our sessions. You may then submit a claim with your insurance company to have a portion of this reimbursed to you. Many insurance plans cover substantial percentages of out-of-network mental health treatment. Please contact your insurance provider prior to our first session to find out 1) what out-of-network benefits you have for outpatient mental health, 2) whether coverage is different for teletherapy, and 3) what your deductible is. I will bill you via secure email after each session, and provide you with a monthly claim statement/superbill which you can submit to your insurance company. I accept debit and credit card payments through a secure online platform (this includes HSA and FSA cards).
